Self Discovery: Do You Know Who You Really Are?

I’ve learned over the years—over the good times and over the absolute worst times—to constantly remind myself of “who I really am” and to never fall prey to believing that my worldly successes or failures define me.

I am “who I am” – regardless of fame, fortune or status; I am “who I am” – regardless of failures, betrayals, or other people’s opinions of me. I am still “me”...

When you know who you are—who you really are—you can have so much fun with your life. You can take risks—leap, soar, sink, and rise again—without allowing your self-worth to be affected.

When you know who you really are, you can say “no” or “yes” without fear of abandonment, criticism, or long-term devastation.

When you know who you really are, you love yourself regardless, and you recognize the greatness in everyone because you know who they really are, too.

You are so much more than you know…

You are so much more than you let yourself believe.

You are so much more than your bank account balance, the size of your hips, or your job title. You are YOU!! You matter! Your life matters! Your dreams matter!

But I didn’t always believe this…

In fact, I can remember back to a time when I didn’t know who I really was. Or better said, I’d forgotten who I was. I believed that my experiences—the good and bad—meant something about me. I believed that my family meant something about me. I believed that my marks in school, my popularity, my looks, my career, even the car I drove, meant something about me. My list of incorrect beliefs was endless…

Was I was really BETTER when I created better things? Was I really LESS when I failed? No! But the world treated me differently so I bought into it.

When you buy into “this myth”,
you have lost your sense of self.

Once you realize who you really are, you won’t be afraid to take risks, speak your mind, have courage, be alone, be willing to fail, be willing to try, follow your passion, be willing to love, be willing….regardless of outcome.

Willingness is the secret ingredient that moves you from wanting to being. Willingness moves you into acceptance and self-love.

Are you willing?

Are you willing to remember who you really are? Willing to let go of the “things” you think mean something about you? Willing to let go of your incorrect beliefs—the ones that are no longer serving you?

I’d love to share a beautiful movie I made to help remind you of who you really are: http://simplyempowered.ca
